Frozen Items List

The last few weeks several of you have been asking me to post a list of the items you can freeze.  Here it is...if you have any questions just ask.  This is a wonderful way to cut your budget to buy items while they're on sale so you never have to pay retail again!  I advise you to write on the item how many days until it expires before you freeze it (if the day you get ready to freeze it & you still have 5 days before it expires write a 5 on the container.)  When you take it out of the freezer write the date it should sxpire (if you take it out today 6/16 then you would write 6/21 on the container.)

Milk-you can freeze the whole jug of milk. Freeze it for around 2-4 months.  Just shake it up before serving.  If it's a gallon jug it usually takes 2 or so days to thaw in the fridge.

Biscuits-you can freeze the can & all for about 2 months.  Usually takes 1 day to thaw in the fridge.

Eggs-crack an egg & beat it up.  Divide the egg between 2 cubes in an ice cube tray.  You'll have a total of 6 eggs in a ice cube tray.  Freeze these then pop them out of the ice cube tray and put it a ziploc.  Date it & use them within 2 months.  Just put in fridge to thaw.

Chips-throw the whole bag in the freezer & they will last for a month & not get stale.  No need to thaw.

Pasta-put the whole box in the freezer & it'll last up to 1 year.  No need to thaw before cooking.

Butter-put the whole tub or box of butter in the freezer.  They last for around 6 months.  Just put in fridge to thaw.

Sliced cheese-individually sliced cheese freezes really well.  It'll last around 2 months.  Just put it fridge to thaw.

Shredded Cheese-Just put the whole bag in there & freeze.  Put in fridge to thaw.

Fresh produce-Buy fresh produce (not lettuce) when it's in season & freeze.  Date it & put in freezer.  The nutritional value is so much better for you.  I wouldn't freeze stuff more than 6-8 months.   Thaw in fridge.

Meat-usually freeze meat for 2-4 months unless you put it in the freezer paper like they do at a butcher shop.  Thaw in fridge.

Crackers-Leave in box & freeze for 1-2 months.  Just put in your pantry to thaw.

Prepackaged meals (hamburger helper)- Freeze them for up to 12 months.  Just thaw in your pantry.

Cereal-Freeze the whole box for 6 months.  Just thaw in your pantry.

Rice-Freeze the whole bag for up to 1 year.  Just thaw in your pantry.

Cake, brownie or cookie mixes-put the whole box in the freezer for up to 1 year. Thaw in pantry.

Oatmeal-freeze whole container for up to 1 year.  Thaw in pantry.

Baking supplies (flour, sugar, brown sugar, powdered sugar, baking powder or soda, corn starch, salt or corn meal)-freeze in the original container for up to 1 year.  Thaw in your pantry.

Coffee or tea-put the whole container in the freezer for up to 1 year.  Thaw in pantry.

It's late so I may have forgotten a few items or if you know of another item please let me know.  Have a great day!  :)
